Louis Armstrong Legacy Program and Celebration

The Louis Armstrong Legacy Program and Celebration is the Chicago Jazz Ensemble’s signature educational partnership with Chicago Public Schools. The program enriches students’ musical and personal growth with a curriculum based on the artistry and spirit of Louis Armstrong. In the past four years, members of the CJE have mentored teachers and students in 15 schools. CJE mentors do more than help students to learn and perform the music, they engage them in the process of learning to understand and articulate their unique creative voice. The program concludes with participating ensembles performing for a public audience at the culminating Celebration concert.

Chicago Jazz Ensemble Mission Statement

The CJE is equally committed to music education and to nurturing the next generation of jazz artists and listeners by providing young people with mentorship, training, and performance opportunities.
