QUALIFICATIONS
The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1969 as a section 501(c)(3) foundation, following a directive and initial donation by Louis Armstrong. Funding for The Foundation comes from the use and exploitation of Armstrong’s intellectual properties. To qualify an organization must be involved in programs that meet the goals of The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc.: perpetuating the legacies of Louis and Lucille Armstrong through (Jazz) music education programs such as performance training, master classes, workshops and lectures. The Foundation also provides scholarships to educational institutions through special programs.
The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc. will, on occasion, consider use of a Fiscal agent.
LETTER OF INTENT (LOI)
The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc. was created by Louis Armstrong to support music education. Special consideration is given to Jazz music education programs that showcase Louis Armstrong’s music, life and legacy. Priority is given to funding for specific projects and programs incorporating well defined objectives, timetables and broad public benefits. New Grant Applications (NGA) are usually given for a period of time not exceeding one year. An applicant may apply any number of consecutive years if invited. Long-term projects will usually require evaluation for further funding. Capital projects are rarely considered.
The Foundation requires completion of the Letter of Intent (LOI) form stating the intent of your request to submit a full proposal.
Submissions:
Following the submission of the Letter of Intent (LOI), you will receive an auto reply. We will contact you if you are selected to submit a full grant application. If you do not receive an auto reply notice your application has not been registered or received.
NEW GRANT APPLICATION (NGA)

Unfortunately, due the COVID-19 pandemic The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation is unable to invite any new applicants for the 2021 grant season. GRANT RENEWAL APPLICATION (GRA)
Grant Renewal Applications must be submitted online. Once awarded a grant an organization may resubmit but renewal is not guaranteed. To be eligible for consideration of a grant renewal an organization must have been awarded the previous year.
Please note: Grant Renewal Applications with supporting materials and documents are only accepted online. Additional Information may be requested during the review process.
