Only 501(c)(3) organizations will be considered for funding.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1969 as a section 501(c)(3) foundation, following a directive and initial donation by Louis and Lucille Armstrong. Funding for the Foundation comes from the use and exploitation of Armstrong’s intellectual properties.

We strongly advise that all applicants thoroughly review our Guidelines prior to applying. Guidelines may change from year to year.

LETTER OF INTENT (LOI)

First-time applicants to the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation must submit an LOI to be considered for funding. Approved LOI applicants will be invited to submit a New Grant Application (NGA). NGAs are usually given for a period of time not exceeding one year. An applicant may apply any number of consecutive years if invited. Long-term projects will usually require evaluation for further funding. Capital projects are rarely considered.

DEADLINES

The Foundation requires completion of the Letter of Intent (LOI) form stating the intent of your request to submit a full proposal.

For LAEF Fiscal Year July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026

Letters of Intent will be accepted Midnight (12am) November 12, 2024 through 11:59:59PM January 13, 2025.

If approved, notification and invitation to the New Grant Application (NGA) will be emailed no later than February 24, 2025.

Applicants invited to submit a New Grant Application (NGA) must submit their application by April 4, 2025 11:59:59.

SUBMISSIONS

Following the submission of the Letter of Intent, you will receive an auto reply. We will contact you if you are selected to submit a full grant application. If you do not receive an auto reply notice your application has not been registered or received.

Grant Renewal Application (GRA)

DEADLINES

For LAEF Fiscal Year July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026:

Grant Renewal Applications (GRA) are only accepted Midnight (12am) January 6, 2025 through 11:59:59PM March 7, 2025.

If funded, a Final Report is required for LAEF Fiscal Year July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026. A report must be submitted no later than December 30, 2025. If your awarded program is completed by this date, this report will serve as your Final Report. If your awarded program takes place after this date, you must submit a brief interim report by December 30, 2025 as well as a Final Report three (3) months after completion of your awarded program.

Notification of Awards will be sent by letter on or before June 30, 2025.

Please note: Grant Renewal Applications with supporting materials and documents are only accepted online. Additional Information may be requested during the review process.

SUBMISSIONS

Following the submission of the Grant Renewal Application, you will receive an auto reply. We will contact you regarding our decision on or before June 30, 2025. If you do not receive an auto reply notice your application has not been registered or received.
